1° Le mythe de la Chute tel qu’il est relaté dans la Bible hébraïque (livre de la Genèse) rappelle que Adam et Eve étaient soumis à une interdiction absolue : Ne pas manger du fruit de l’Arbre de la Connaissance (figue, ou pomme selon les interprétations ultérieures). Leur désobéissance fut une faute aux conséquences mortelles puisque l’homme et la femme furent chassés du Paradis.
Dans le texte il est vrai que, au mot à mot, la Genèse vise la connaissance "du bien et du mal". Mais en réalité c’est une formulation convenue, habituelle, pour désigner la connaissance en général, la connaissance totale. D’autres récits bibliques et des textes hindouistes très antérieurs utilisent cette expression de "connaissance du bien et du mal" pour désigner la connaissance plénière: L’Omniscience.

En, réalité c’est le mythe fondamental de l’époque moderne, la grande superstition des temps actuels.

En Europe le christianisme s’est opposé au paganisme et s’est imposé comme l’idéologie commune à tous les européens pendant plus d’un millénaire. Personne n’avait formulé l’idée selon laquelle, la Connaissance pouvait constituer non seulement un danger moral pour la personne, mais aussi un danger vital global, mortel, pour toute l’espèce humaine. Et même pour toutes les espèces vivantes sur la Terre.
C’est seulement tout récemment, au cours de la seconde moitié du 20è siècle, que l’homme d’Occident découvre que la Connaissance, la Science, dont il est incontestablement l’inventeur, n’est pas seulement une affaire aux conséquences morales personnelles. La Connaissance, et ses risques, ne concernent pas seulement le scientifique et sa conscience, mais apparaît comme une aventure qui peut mettre en danger la vie de l’humanité, et même la vie des "Dix Mille Êtres".
La Science qui apporte la Mort et non pas la Vie, ce n’est pas un mythe, ce n’est pas un conte pour enfants crédules, ou croyants attardés. C’est devenu une réalité qui est entre dans le domaine de notre expérience de société.
Cette découverte d’une Connaissance pleine de risques pour l’humanité est un séisme à répliques périodiques, qui ébranle de manière encore discrète les sociétés occidentales depuis le dernier tiers du 20è siècle. Une révolution culturelle, un nouveau renversement complet des valeurs incontestablement admises depuis deux siècles en Occident, mais qui tarde encore à être assimilé. Ce n’est encore qu’ une angoisse sourde souvent déviée vers des thèmes écologiques plus sympathiques.
Il est ainsi possible de penser que les actuelles générations de terriens sont en train de vivre, de vérifier expérimentalement, la pertinence réaliste du symbolisme mortel de l’Arbre de la Connaissance, du Fruit Défendu, relaté dans la Genèse. Depuis seulement quelques décennies, la connaissance scientifique a en effet placé l’humanité en situation de faire l’expérience, passionnante, mais définitive, d’une possible fin de l’espèce humaine et de toute vie sur Terre.

2° Jusque vers le milieu du 19è siècle les grandes civilisations de la terre étaient à peu près aux mêmes niveaux scientifiques et techniques. En 1750 l’Europe n’est pas plus avancée scientifiquement et techniquement que la Chine.
A partir de milieu du 19è siècle l’Occident prend, grâce à la Science, et aux techniques qui en sont l’application, une très grande avance sur toutes les autres sociétés.
A partir des années 1840 les guerres de l’Opium contraignent la Chine à établir les relations économiques que l’Occident veut lui imposer. Vive La Liberté…du Commerce.
Dès 1900 il est clair que l’Asie, représentée par le Japon, ne restera pas en arrière de cette évolution scientifique et technique..
Les deux guerres mondiales démontrent que les capacités de destruction que l’homme d’Occident et d’Asie s’est donné, grâce à la Science, sont en croissance continue.
Mais Hiroshima ou Nagasaki ne sont encore que des apocalypses partielles, localisées et contrôlables.
Dans les années 1960 et suivantes se produit un saut qualitatif énorme, un changement d’échelle radical : L’humanité, représentée par les Etats Unis et l’Urss, est désormais capable de détruire toute vie sur la terre dans une Apocalypse totale et irréversible: Un hiver nucléaire qui ne laisse aucune chance à la Vie. Il est de notoriété publique que les "dérapages", les "erreurs" les "incidents" qui ont été à deux doigts d’engager l’escalade finale irrésistible, la réaction en chaîne qu’il est impossible d’arrêter, ont été nombreux. Au point d’inquiéter les extra-terrestres et de susciter leur intervention, ce dont des militaires américains aujourd’hui à la retraite témoignent clairement. Des hommes auxquels l’armée avait confié la responsabilité de déclencher les tirs de missiles balistiques et qui ne devaient pas prendre des vessies pour des lanternes, ni confondre des ballons sondes avec des soucoupes volantes.
Actuellement la Chine est dans la même situation de pouvoir provoquer ce cataclysme directement. Et une petite dizaines de pays peuvent déclencher la fin de la Terre de manière indirecte par un effet d’enchaînement d’alliances semblable à celui qui a provoqué la guerre de 1914-18.
Le constat est incontestable et accablant : Ce sont bien les capacités de connaissances, scientifiques et techniques, que l’homme s’est données, en un siècle, qui le mettent en situation de pouvoir exterminer toute vie sur terre. L’Hiver Nucléaire n’est d’ailleurs que l’un des scénarios possibles pour une Apocalypse scientifiquement générée: les armes biologiques, les nanotechnologies, les expériences de laboratoire, comme au CERN celle de création de trous noirs, sont d’autres occurrences envisageables.

3° Quand la réalité rattrape le mythe, il faut alors considérer les mythes, et notamment celui de "la Chute par la Connaissance", d’un œil moins "scientifiquement" critique. Un oeil neuf, réellement éclairé non pas par une idéologie adoratrice de l’Homme et de sa Raison, mais par notre expérience récente de l’histoire de l’humanité.
Si le mythe disait vrai ? ou disait quelque chose qui ressemble beaucoup au vrai ?
Selon l’opinion encore la plus répandue ces mythes sont des "bêtises" arriérées, des traces d’une pensée primitive, archaïque, religieuse, obscurantiste et absurde. Et pourtant ces mythes ressemblent cependant beaucoup au monde que nous vivons actuellement.
Les Mythes ne sont peut être pas si "mités" qu’ils en ont l’air!
L’Allégorie de l’Arbre de la Connaissance de la Genèse n’est pas le seul mythe dont la signification nous rattrape. Ce mythe judaïque a des parentés évidentes avec certaines conceptions du monde élaborées par les philosophies hindoues, bien plus anciennes encore, dont il pourrait être une réminiscence.
Selon les philosophies hindoues la mort, la destruction est une composante de la vie, son contraire absolument indissociable à l’échelle du microcosme comme à celle du macrocosme. Ceci dans une vision non pas seulement linéaire, comme chez les Sémites et leurs héritiers occidentaux, mais cyclique de la vie de l’Univers et de l’homme en particulier.
A une échelle un peu plus longue que celle historique selon nos critères, le cycle général des quatre yugas ou quatre âges de l’humanité mène à la destruction presque complète des hommes, puis à leurs progrès et à leur déclin à nouveau, dans un cycle, le manvantara, qui dure des dizaines de milliers d’années et dont on calcule la durée dans l’Inde en termes de précessions des équinoxes.
Pour l’ensemble de l’humanité actuelle nous sommes depuis 3.000 ans avant notre ère environ, en fait depuis ce que les historiens appellent la période historique, dans le quatrième âge, l’âge du déclin ou des conflits (Kali Yuga). Cet âge doit mener de plus en plus rapidement au dérèglement dans tous les ordres de valeurs et se terminera par une catastrophe qui détruira l’humanité.
A mesure que l’humanité avance dans "l’âge des conflits" les vertus de l’homme se dégradent. L’homme devient irresponsable, corrompu, égoïste. Les sciences jusque là réservées à ceux qui savent les utiliser avec sagesse sont livrées au commun des hommes qui n’ont pas le discernement nécessaire pour en éviter l’emploi nocif. La Science devient mortelle parce qu’elle est séparée de la Sagesse.
Ce constat est essentiel à la compréhension du mythe biblique de la Chute par la Connaissance : Ce n’est pas la Connaissance qui est en soi destructrice, c’est son utilisation par des hommes dénués de Sagesse.
C’est bien ce qu’enseignent certains "Puranas", des textes antérieurs à notre ère, qui mettent l’accent sur une des caractéristiques de ce Kali Yuga que nous vivons actuellement :
Durant cet âge le progrès technique, matériel, est toujours croissant. Il est le résultat, sans conteste bénéfique par certains de ses aspects, des avancées de la connaissance.
Mais ce progrès des connaissances est inévitablement couplé avec une régression spirituelle et morale, un recul de la Sagesse qui rend l’homme incapable de maîtriser ses avancées scientifiques et techniques.
L’homme n’a pas les capacités spirituelles et morales qui lui permettraient de connaître sans risques.
C’est ainsi que "Demain l’Apocalypse" est un thème de réflexion qui commence à revenir fréquemment dans certains médias. Un thème qui n’est pas traité seulement par des mystiques vivant hors de notre monde, ou la Bible à la main, mais par des scientifiques bien en prise avec le réel. Le mythe de l’Arbre de la Connaissance interdit, du Fruit défendu, n’est plus seulement un mythe fantaisiste créé à une époque obscurantiste et dépassée, il devient une hypothèse crédible d’involution.
En quelques mots : le mythe de la chute signifie que l’Homme veut la Connaissance pour le Pouvoir et non pour la Sagesse; c’est ce que l’on constate tout au long de l’histoire humaine, et c’est cette dérive qui conduit l’humanité à sa perte.

Knowledge, Science, is the Light par excellence. The man, who is already at the top of the Evolution, will take, thanks to the Scientific Knowledge, the way towards a better Life. Science, Source of Progress, Life, and Happiness for Humanity, is one of the fundamental articles of faith of the prevailing ideology in the West for over two centuries. In reality, it is the fundamental myth of the modern era, the great superstition of the present times.
The man believing in the "Enlightenment" has therefore taken the exact opposite of the man believing in Genesis. This reversal of values is a historically verified phenomenon on many occasions. A new religion is always based in opposition to the old one. In Europe Christianity has opposed paganism and has emerged as the ideology common to all Europeans for more than a millennium. Likewise, as from the "Enlightenment", the Myth of Science and Progress, the Myth of Life by Knowledge has opposed the Myth of the Fall by Knowledge and replaced it to become the new ideology common to all Westerners.

The Science that brings Death and not Life is not a myth, it is not a tale for gullible children, or belated believers. It has become a reality that has entered the realm of our social experience.
This discovery of a knowledge full of risks for humanity is an earthquake with periodic replicas, which shakes in a way still discrete Western societies since the last third of the 20th century. A cultural revolution, a complete reversal of the values that have been unquestionably accepted for two centuries in the West, but which is yet to be assimilated. It is still only a dull anguish often deviated towards more sympathetic ecological themes.
It is therefore possible to think that current generations of Earthlings have the opportunity to experimentally verify the realistic relevance of the mortal symbolism of the Tree of Knowledge, the Forbidden Fruit, as told in Genesis.. For only a few decades, scientific knowledge has placed humanity in a position to experience, so exciting but definitive, a possible end of the human species and of all life on Earth.

2° Until about the middle of the 19th century, the great civilizations of the earth were at about the same scientific and technical levels. In 1750 Europe is not more advanced scientifically and technically than China.
From the middle of the 19th century the West, thanks to Science, and the techniques that are the application, takes a very great lead over all other societies.
From the 1840s the Opium Wars forced China to establish the economic relations that the West wanted to impose on it. Long live Liberty … of Trade.
From 1900 it is clear that Asia, represented by Japan, will not remain behind this scientific and technical evolution. The two world wars demonstrate that the destruction capabilities that the man of the West and Asia has given himself, thanks to Science are in continuous growth.

To the point of worrying the extraterrestrials and to provoke their intervention, which American soldiers now retired clearly testify.
Men to whom the army had entrusted the responsibility to trigger ballistic missile fire and who were not to take bladders for lanterns, nor to confuse sounding balloons with flying saucers.
Currently China is in the same situation of being able to provoke this cataclysm directly. And a small dozen countries can trigger the end of the Earth indirectly through a chain of alliances similar to that which provoked the 1914-18 war.
The observation is undeniable and overwhelming: It is the abilities of knowledge, scientific and technical, that man has given himself, in a century, that puts him in a position to exterminate all life on earth. Nuclear winter is only one of the possible scenarios for a scientifically generated Apocalypse: biological weapons, nanotechnologies, laboratory experiments, as at CERN that of creating black holes, are other Possible occurrences.

3°. When reality catches up with the myth, myths must be considered, especially that of "the Fall by Knowledge", from a less "scientifically" critical eye. A new eye, really enlightened not by an ideology worshiping Man and his Reason, but by our recent experience in the history of mankind.
If the myth was true? or was saying something that looks a lot like the real thing?
According to the most widespread opinion, these myths are backward "stupidities", traces of a primitive, archaic, religious, obscurantist and absurd thought. And yet these myths are very much like the world we are living now.
Myths may not be so "senseless" as they look!
The Allegory of the Tree of Knowledge of Genesis is not the only myth whose meaning catches up with us. This Judaic myth has obvious kinships with certain conceptions of the world elaborated by Hindu philosophies, much older still, of which it could be a reminiscence
According to the Hindu philosophies of death, destruction is a component of life, its opposite absolutely inseparable on the scale of microcosm as that of macrocosm. This in a vision not only linear, as among the Semites and their westerns heirs, but cyclical of the life of the Universe and man in particular.
On a somewhat longer scale than the historical one according to our criteria, the general cycle of the four yugas or four ages of mankind leads to the almost complete destruction of men, then to their progress and decline again, in a cycle , the manvantara, which lasts tens of thousands of years and whose duration is calculated in India in terms of precessions of the equinoxes.
For the whole of present-day humanity we have entered around 3,000 years ago, in fact since what historians call the historical period, in the fourth age, the age of decline or conflict (Kali Yuga). This age must lead more and more quickly to the disruption of all orders of values and will end in a catastrophe that will destroy humanity.
As humanity advances in "the age of conflict" the virtues of man are degraded. Man becomes irresponsible, corrupt, selfish. The sciences hitherto reserved for those who know how to use them wisely are delivered to the common people who do not have the discernment necessary to avoid the harmful use. Science becomes mortal because it is separate from Wisdom.
This observation is essential to the understanding of the biblical myth of the Fall through Knowledge: It is not Knowledge that is in itself destructive, it is its use by men without Wisdom.
This is what some "Puranas" teach, texts before our era, which emphasize one of the characteristics of this Kali Yuga that we are currently living:
During this age, technical and material progress is always increasing. It is the result, undoubtedly beneficial in some of its aspects, advances in knowledge.
But this progress of knowledge is inevitably coupled with a spiritual and moral regression, a retreat of Wisdom that makes man incapable of mastering his scientific and technical advances.
The man does not have the spiritual and moral capacities that would allow him to know without risks.
Thus "Tomorrow the Apocalypse" is a theme of reflection that begins to return frequently in some media. A theme that is not only treated by mystics living outside our world, or the Bible in the hand, but by scientists in tune with reality. The myth of the forbidden Tree of Knowledge, of the forbidden Fruit, is no longer just a fanciful myth created in an obscurantist and outdated time, it becomes a credible hypothesis of involution.
In a few words: the myth of the fall means that Man wants Knowledge for Power and not for Wisdom; this is what we see throughout human history, and it is this drift that leads humanity to its loss.

La Science qui apporte la Mort et non pas la Vie, ce n’est pas un mythe, ce n’est pas un conte pour enfants crédules, ou croyants attardés. C’est devenu une réalité qui est entre dans le domaine de notre expérience de société.
Cette découverte d’une Connaissance pleine de risques pour l’humanité est un séisme à répliques périodiques, qui ébranle de manière encore discrète les sociétés occidentales depuis le dernier tiers du 20è siècle. Une révolution culturelle, un nouveau renversement complet des valeurs incontestablement admises depuis deux siècles en Occident, mais qui tarde encore à être assimilé. Ce n’est encore qu’ une angoisse sourde souvent déviée vers des thèmes écologiques plus sympathiques.
Il est ainsi possible de penser que les actuelles générations de terriens sont en train de vivre, de vérifier expérimentalement, la pertinence réaliste du symbolisme mortel de l’Arbre de la Connaissance, du Fruit Défendu, relaté dans la Genèse. Depuis seulement quelques décennies, la connaissance scientifique a en effet placé l’humanité en situation de faire l’expérience, passionnante, mais définitive, d’une possible fin de l’espèce humaine et de toute vie sur Terre.

2° Jusque vers le milieu du 19è siècle les grandes civilisations de la terre étaient à peu près aux mêmes niveaux scientifiques et techniques. En 1750 l’Europe n’est pas plus avancée scientifiquement et techniquement que la Chine.
A partir de milieu du 19è siècle l’Occident prend, grâce à la Science, et aux techniques qui en sont l’application, une très grande avance sur toutes les autres sociétés.
A partir des années 1840 les guerres de l’Opium contraignent la Chine à établir les relations économiques que l’Occident veut lui imposer. Vive La Liberté…du Commerce.
Dès 1900 il est clair que l’Asie, représentée par le Japon, ne restera pas en arrière de cette évolution scientifique et technique..
Les deux guerres mondiales démontrent que les capacités de destruction que l’homme d’Occident et d’Asie s’est donné, grâce à la Science, sont en croissance continue.
Mais Hiroshima ou Nagasaki ne sont encore que des apocalypses partielles, localisées et contrôlables.
Dans les années 1960 et suivantes se produit un saut qualitatif énorme, un changement d’échelle radical : L’humanité, représentée par les Etats Unis et l’Urss, est désormais capable de détruire toute vie sur la terre dans une Apocalypse totale et irréversible: Un hiver nucléaire qui ne laisse aucune chance à la Vie. Il est de notoriété publique que les "dérapages", les "erreurs" les "incidents" qui ont été à deux doigts d’engager l’escalade finale irrésistible, la réaction en chaîne qu’il est impossible d’arrêter, ont été nombreux. Au point d’inquiéter les extra-terrestres et de susciter leur intervention, ce dont des militaires américains aujourd’hui à la retraite témoignent clairement. Des hommes auxquels l’armée avait confié la responsabilité de déclencher les tirs de missiles balistiques et qui ne devaient pas prendre des vessies pour des lanternes, ni confondre des ballons sondes avec des soucoupes volantes.
Actuellement la Chine est dans la même situation de pouvoir provoquer ce cataclysme directement. Et une petite dizaines de pays peuvent déclencher la fin de la Terre de manière indirecte par un effet d’enchaînement d’alliances semblable à celui qui a provoqué la guerre de 1914-18.
Le constat est incontestable et accablant : Ce sont bien les capacités de connaissances, scientifiques et techniques, que l’homme s’est données, en un siècle, qui le mettent en situation de pouvoir exterminer toute vie sur terre. L’Hiver Nucléaire n’est d’ailleurs que l’un des scénarios possibles pour une Apocalypse scientifiquement générée: les armes biologiques, les nanotechnologies, les expériences de laboratoire, comme au CERN celle de création de trous noirs, sont d’autres occurrences envisageables.

3° Quand la réalité rattrape le mythe, il faut alors considérer les mythes, et notamment celui de "la Chute par la Connaissance", d’un œil moins "scientifiquement" critique. Un oeil neuf, réellement éclairé non pas par une idéologie adoratrice de l’Homme et de sa Raison, mais par notre expérience récente de l’histoire de l’humanité.
Si le mythe disait vrai ? ou disait quelque chose qui ressemble beaucoup au vrai ?
Selon l’opinion encore la plus répandue ces mythes sont des "bêtises" arriérées, des traces d’une pensée primitive, archaïque, religieuse, obscurantiste et absurde. Et pourtant ces mythes ressemblent cependant beaucoup au monde que nous vivons actuellement.
Les Mythes ne sont peut être pas si "mités" qu’ils en ont l’air!
L’Allégorie de l’Arbre de la Connaissance de la Genèse n’est pas le seul mythe dont la signification nous rattrape. Ce mythe judaïque a des parentés évidentes avec certaines conceptions du monde élaborées par les philosophies hindoues, bien plus anciennes encore, dont il pourrait être une réminiscence.
Selon les philosophies hindoues la mort, la destruction est une composante de la vie, son contraire absolument indissociable à l’échelle du microcosme comme à celle du macrocosme. Ceci dans une vision non pas seulement linéaire, comme chez les Sémites et leurs héritiers occidentaux, mais cyclique de la vie de l’Univers et de l’homme en particulier.
A une échelle un peu plus longue que celle historique selon nos critères, le cycle général des quatre yugas ou quatre âges de l’humanité mène à la destruction presque complète des hommes, puis à leurs progrès et à leur déclin à nouveau, dans un cycle, le manvantara, qui dure des dizaines de milliers d’années et dont on calcule la durée dans l’Inde en termes de précessions des équinoxes.
Pour l’ensemble de l’humanité actuelle nous sommes depuis 3.000 ans avant notre ère environ, en fait depuis ce que les historiens appellent la période historique, dans le quatrième âge, l’âge du déclin ou des conflits (Kali Yuga). Cet âge doit mener de plus en plus rapidement au dérèglement dans tous les ordres de valeurs et se terminera par une catastrophe qui détruira l’humanité.
A mesure que l’humanité avance dans "l’âge des conflits" les vertus de l’homme se dégradent. L’homme devient irresponsable, corrompu, égoïste. Les sciences jusque là réservées à ceux qui savent les utiliser avec sagesse sont livrées au commun des hommes qui n’ont pas le discernement nécessaire pour en éviter l’emploi nocif. La Science devient mortelle parce qu’elle est séparée de la Sagesse.
Ce constat est essentiel à la compréhension du mythe biblique de la Chute par la Connaissance : Ce n’est pas la Connaissance qui est en soi destructrice, c’est son utilisation par des hommes dénués de Sagesse.
C’est bien ce qu’enseignent certains "Puranas", des textes antérieurs à notre ère, qui mettent l’accent sur une des caractéristiques de ce Kali Yuga que nous vivons actuellement :
Durant cet âge le progrès technique, matériel, est toujours croissant. Il est le résultat, sans conteste bénéfique par certains de ses aspects, des avancées de la connaissance.
Mais ce progrès des connaissances est inévitablement couplé avec une régression spirituelle et morale, un recul de la Sagesse qui rend l’homme incapable de maîtriser ses avancées scientifiques et techniques.
L’homme n’a pas les capacités spirituelles et morales qui lui permettraient de connaître sans risques.
C’est ainsi que "Demain l’Apocalypse" est un thème de réflexion qui commence à revenir fréquemment dans certains médias. Un thème qui n’est pas traité seulement par des mystiques vivant hors de notre monde, ou la Bible à la main, mais par des scientifiques bien en prise avec le réel. Le mythe de l’Arbre de la Connaissance interdit, du Fruit défendu, n’est plus seulement un mythe fantaisiste créé à une époque obscurantiste et dépassée, il devient une hypothèse crédible d’involution.
En quelques mots : le mythe de la chute signifie que l’Homme veut la Connaissance pour le Pouvoir et non pour la Sagesse; c’est ce que l’on constate tout au long de l’histoire humaine, et c’est cette dérive qui conduit l’humanité à sa perte.

ADAM, EVE, THE APPLE, THE FALL: THE MYTH.
EVOLUTION ? INVOLUTION?

1° The myth of the Fall as recounted in the Hebrew Bible (Book of Genesis) recalls that Adam and Eve were subject to an absolute ban: Do not eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge (fig or apple according to subsequent interpretations). Their disobedience was a fault with fatal,deadly consequences since the man and the woman were expelled from Paradise.
In the text it is true that, word for word, Genesis aims at the knowledge of "good and evil". But in reality it is an agreed, habitual formulation to designate knowledge in general, total knowledge. Other Biblical narratives and very earlier Hindu texts use this expression of "knowledge of good and evil" to refer to the Plenary knowledge: the Omniscience.
Consuming the fruit of this tree gives all knowledge, the absolute knowledge. It is therefore unfounded to limit the myth of Genesis to moral knowledge alone. Myth means well, that Knowledge, Know, Science are forbidden to man.
A message that is considered in the West and in our time as completely retrograde, totally obscurantist, in absolute contradiction with the modern myth of the Science, Evolution and Progress.
Since the end of the 18th century, the ideology of the "Enlightenment" sees on the contrary in the Progress of Knowledge and advances in Science the path of salvation. Knowledge, Science, is the Light par excellence. The man, who is already at the top of the Evolution, will take, thanks to the Scientific Knowledge, the way towards a better Life. Science, Source of Progress, Life, and Happiness for Humanity, is one of the fundamental articles of faith of the prevailing ideology in the West for over two centuries. In reality, it is the fundamental myth of the modern era, the great superstition of the present times.
The man believing in the "Enlightenment" has therefore taken the exact opposite of the man believing in Genesis. This reversal of values is a historically verified phenomenon on many occasions. A new religion is always based in opposition to the old one. In Europe Christianity has opposed paganism and has emerged as the ideology common to all Europeans for more than a millennium. Likewise, as from the "Enlightenment", the Myth of Science and Progress, the Myth of Life by Knowledge has opposed the Myth of the Fall by Knowledge and replaced it to become the new ideology common to all Westerners.
The man of the West had already expressed in other texts, closer to us than the Genesis, the idea of the limits and dangers of scientific knowledge: "Science without consciousness is only ruin of the soul "enunciated François Rabelais in Pantagruel, in a perspective more" humanistic" than religious.
But Science was then understood only as capable of generating a moral, individual, personal danger. Science could lead to hell in a particular person, but not all men. Science could mean the death of an individual consciousness. Nobody had formulated the idea that Knowledge could constitute not only a moral danger for the person, but also an overall vital danger, mortal, for the whole human species. And even for all living species on the Earth.
It is only recently, during the second half of the 20th century, that the man of the West discovers that Knowledge, Science, of which he is undeniably the inventor, is not only a matter of moral consequences personal. Knowledge, and its risks, not only concern the scientist and his consciousness, but appears as an adventure that can endanger the life of humanity, and even the life of the "Ten Thousand Beings".
The Science that brings Death and not Life is not a myth, it is not a tale for gullible children, or belated believers. It has become a reality that has entered the realm of our social experience.
This discovery of a knowledge full of risks for humanity is an earthquake with periodic replicas, which shakes in a way still discrete Western societies since the last third of the 20th century. A cultural revolution, a complete reversal of the values that have been unquestionably accepted for two centuries in the West, but which is yet to be assimilated. It is still only a dull anguish often deviated towards more sympathetic ecological themes.
It is therefore possible to think that current generations of Earthlings have the opportunity to experimentally verify the realistic relevance of the mortal symbolism of the Tree of Knowledge, the Forbidden Fruit, as told in Genesis.. For only a few decades, scientific knowledge has placed humanity in a position to experience, so exciting but definitive, a possible end of the human species and of all life on Earth.

2° Until about the middle of the 19th century, the great civilizations of the earth were at about the same scientific and technical levels. In 1750 Europe is not more advanced scientifically and technically than China.
From the middle of the 19th century the West, thanks to Science, and the techniques that are the application, takes a very great lead over all other societies.
From the 1840s the Opium Wars forced China to establish the economic relations that the West wanted to impose on it. Long live Liberty … of Trade.
From 1900 it is clear that Asia, represented by Japan, will not remain behind this scientific and technical evolution. The two world wars demonstrate that the destruction capabilities that the man of the West and Asia has given himself, thanks to Science are in continuous growth.
But Hiroshima or Nagasaki are still only partial apocalypses, localized and controllable.
In the 1960s and following occurs a huge qualitative leap, a radical change of scale: Humanity, represented by the United States and the USSR, is now able to destroy all life on earth in a total and irreversible Apocalypse : A nuclear winter that leaves no chance for life. It is common knowledge that the "skids", the "mistakes" the "incidents" that were on the verge of engaging the irresistible final escalation, the chain reaction that is impossible to stop, were numerous . To the point of worrying the extraterrestrials and to provoke their intervention, which American soldiers now retired clearly testify.
Men to whom the army had entrusted the responsibility to trigger ballistic missile fire and who were not to take bladders for lanterns, nor to confuse sounding balloons with flying saucers.
Currently China is in the same situation of being able to provoke this cataclysm directly. And a small dozen countries can trigger the end of the Earth indirectly through a chain of alliances similar to that which provoked the 1914-18 war.
The observation is undeniable and overwhelming: It is the abilities of knowledge, scientific and technical, that man has given himself, in a century, that puts him in a position to exterminate all life on earth. Nuclear winter is only one of the possible scenarios for a scientifically generated Apocalypse: biological weapons, nanotechnologies, laboratory experiments, as at CERN that of creating black holes, are other Possible occurrences.

3°. When reality catches up with the myth, myths must be considered, especially that of "the Fall by Knowledge", from a less "scientifically" critical eye. A new eye, really enlightened not by an ideology worshiping Man and his Reason, but by our recent experience in the history of mankind.
If the myth was true? or was saying something that looks a lot like the real thing?
According to the most widespread opinion, these myths are backward "stupidities", traces of a primitive, archaic, religious, obscurantist and absurd thought. And yet these myths are very much like the world we are living now.
Myths may not be so "senseless" as they look!
The Allegory of the Tree of Knowledge of Genesis is not the only myth whose meaning catches up with us. This Judaic myth has obvious kinships with certain conceptions of the world elaborated by Hindu philosophies, much older still, of which it could be a reminiscence
According to the Hindu philosophies of death, destruction is a component of life, its opposite absolutely inseparable on the scale of microcosm as that of macrocosm. This in a vision not only linear, as among the Semites and their westerns heirs, but cyclical of the life of the Universe and man in particular.
On a somewhat longer scale than the historical one according to our criteria, the general cycle of the four yugas or four ages of mankind leads to the almost complete destruction of men, then to their progress and decline again, in a cycle , the manvantara, which lasts tens of thousands of years and whose duration is calculated in India in terms of precessions of the equinoxes.
For the whole of present-day humanity we have entered around 3,000 years ago, in fact since what historians call the historical period, in the fourth age, the age of decline or conflict (Kali Yuga). This age must lead more and more quickly to the disruption of all orders of values and will end in a catastrophe that will destroy humanity.
As humanity advances in "the age of conflict" the virtues of man are degraded. Man becomes irresponsible, corrupt, selfish. The sciences hitherto reserved for those who know how to use them wisely are delivered to the common people who do not have the discernment necessary to avoid the harmful use. Science becomes mortal because it is separate from Wisdom.
This observation is essential to the understanding of the biblical myth of the Fall through Knowledge: It is not Knowledge that is in itself destructive, it is its use by men without Wisdom.
This is what some "Puranas" teach, texts before our era, which emphasize one of the characteristics of this Kali Yuga that we are currently living:
During this age, technical and material progress is always increasing. It is the result, undoubtedly beneficial in some of its aspects, advances in knowledge.
But this progress of knowledge is inevitably coupled with a spiritual and moral regression, a retreat of Wisdom that makes man incapable of mastering his scientific and technical advances.
The man does not have the spiritual and moral capacities that would allow him to know without risks.
Thus "Tomorrow the Apocalypse" is a theme of reflection that begins to return frequently in some media. A theme that is not only treated by mystics living outside our world, or the Bible in the hand, but by scientists in tune with reality. The myth of the forbidden Tree of Knowledge, of the forbidden Fruit, is no longer just a fanciful myth created in an obscurantist and outdated time, it becomes a credible hypothesis of involution.
In a few words: the myth of the fall means that Man wants Knowledge for Power and not for Wisdom; this is what we see throughout human history, and it is this drift that leads humanity to its loss.
