Turn your passion into a career with a level 2 fitness instructor course

When your job is just a job it can feel monotonous, relentless, and draining. Every day you will be doing something that you don’t really want to do, for a company you don’t like, and the money will barely make it worthwhile. A change of career can be incredibly tricky to manoeuvre though, especially if you’ve worked in the same sort of role your whole life.

Perhaps it’s a job you just fell into, or a role which you wanted at the time but as you’ve matured and changed as an individual, so have your criteria for the perfect job. If you’re a fitness fan and you love your gym visits, you might have considered taking a level 2 fitness instructor course. Distance education is a great way to gain the skills you need to work in a new role without having to quit your old job in the meantime. It means you’ll still be bringing home a salary, but you’ll also be working towards something you’re really passionate about as well.

Should I take a level 2 fitness instructor courses?

Before you take that leap, you will need to give some serious consideration into whether this is the right role for you. There’s no progression if you find yourself constantly changing jobs, and you’ll always be on starting salaries and forking out for more courses. It’s much better to find something you’re really passionate about doing, research it well, consider whether you’d be able to do it, and stick with it. It you’re passionate about health and fitness, a people person, and a great teacher then this may well be the job for you.

Key characteristics of a fitness instructor

– Friendly and outgoing
– Passionate about fitness, and ability to inspire that in others
– Motivational and inspirational

There are different types of courses you can take, but a level 2 fitness instructor course helps focus your career. Without any qualification you will struggle to find a job in your dream career because it’s just not something you can really learn on the job. There’s a lot of technical skills, as well as science which comes into sport, and you’re going to have to have a solid grounding in all of it.

You’re definitely going to need a gym membership while you’re taking your level 2 fitness instructor course. This is both so you can train and practise moves, and so you can take the tests. If you get to know the staff well they might even consider you if a job becomes available!
