TSC Butler
fitness stores
This store was built in 1971 as a Zayre department store. This Zayre was closed in the Ames merger (at the end of 1988) since Ames was then operating a store at nearby Butler Mall (less than a mile away) which opened in 1972 as a Murphy’s Mart location. Ames also later ran an ex-Hills store at Clearview Mall in Butler. Today, this former (approximately 50,000 square foot) Zayre store is split between Planet Fitness and Tractor Supply Company.

Former Zayre discount store – Alameda Plaza – New Castle Road – Butler, PA

Upper levels of Legacy Village
fitness stores
Legacy Village is a lifestyle center that opened in 2003 and was originally anchored by Galyan’s (now Dick’s), Giant Eagle, Expo Design Center (now Nordstrom Rack and LA Fitness), Joseph-Beth Bookseller’s (now Z Gallerie), and Crate & Barrel. A lot of the original tenants have been changed over the years. The shopping center orginally focused on stores that at the time had no locations in Ohio, since those made up the majority of the original tenants. In 2016, A Hyatt Place Hotel was built in the shopping center.

A few nice fitness stores images I found:

Planet Fitness
fitness stores
This new Planet Fitness filled up several vacant stores.

The North Park Mall in Marion, Indiana opened in 1978. It was rebranded to Five Points Mall in 2009. The mall currently appears to be dying; only one out of four anchor slots will be occupied by summer 2018. Many smaller stores are vacant as well. On the positive side, Planet Fitness is new place in the mall that opened in January 2018 and could be a sign the owners want to convert the mall into a strip shopping center. The outlots also appear to be doing well except for a closed restaurant.

Here are the four anchor store spots
1) JCPenney (open 1978 to 2014) – Currently Vacant
2) Hills (1978 to 1998), Ames (1998 to 2001 or 2002), Steve & Barry’s (2004 to 2008), Roses (2011 to current)
3) Sears (1990 to 2013) – Currently Vacant
4) Meis (1978 to 1989), Elder-Beerman (1989 to 2011), Carson’s (2011 to April 2018)

Five Points Mall in Marion, Indiana – 1129 North Baldwin Avenue
